New Year Goals

Happy New Year Everyone! 2010 was a bit of a blur for me, but this year I hope to really get a hold of things. Aside from gaining more training through more intensive workshops, I would like to regain a bit of organization as I try to be more punctual with deadlines and doing a lot more preparation work for the various projects or events as they come up. Alphabet Book

This semester, I sat in on a typography class. I have been really excited to have the opportunity because my training in graphic design is slim to none. Up till now, I have built my knowledge on those around me, so the class has been wonderful. The final project of this class was a type specimen book that was to show case a type face in book form. Pop-up Workshop

On the day of our first big snow, we held a Holiday Pop-up Card workshop at Paper Crane Gallery.  The first of two sessions began at 10:30 and we got started right away.  We worked on four cards and completed every one of them with enough time to decorate them for a few minutes. There was a short break before the second session started at 1:00.  Again, we started right on time and the excitement of learning new pop-ups helped us complete all the cards. Pop Up Workshop Sneak Peak

I will be teaching a holiday themed pop up card workshop tomorrow at Paper Crane Gallery here in Bloomington with my close friend and colleague, Hyun. We are offering two one and a half hour sessions (10:30 and 1:00) when the participants will make four different kinds of holiday cards. We will also have card kits available for sale. If you haven't had a chance to check out Paper Crane, it is a great time to do so. It will be a ton of fun and a perfect way to ease into the holiday season!
